Zlín Film Festival as a Space for Helping Those in Need – Locally and Around the World

14. May 2026

The Zlín Film Festival has long been a place where the joy of cinema meets human solidarity. We are proud that, through several charitable organisations involved in our program, we can help some of the most vulnerable – children facing difficult life circumstances. For the second year in a row, we have therefore decided to dedicate the festival‘s Sunday symbolically to good deeds and people with big hearts.

An important part of this effort is our support for the Kapka Naděje Foundation Fund, with which the festival has cooperated for 21 years. In recent years, the foundation has also become a regular part of the festival’s professional programme, where together we create space for discussions on child psychiatry. During Charity Sunday, every cinema and open-air screening ticket, as well as admission to paid supporting events, will include an additional CZK 10-donation. The proceeds from the entire day will support the fight against serious childhood illnesses. This atmosphere of solidarity will culminate in the traditional Concert for Kapka Naděje on the main square (Náměstí Míru), while the official presentation of the collected amount will take place during the unveiling of new stars on the Zlín Walk of Fame on Tuesday, 2 June 2026 – a joint project of the Zlín Film Festival and the Kapka naděje Foundation Fund.

Participants in the MONET+ Zlín Festival Half Marathon also leave an important charitable footprint. All proceeds from the family run go directly to a selected family in the region through the KORUNKA POMÁHÁ (“One Crown Helps“) project. This support is further complemented by a symbolic contribution from the main race – CZK 1 for every kilometer completed. Our long-standing cooperation with KORUNKA through the half marathon is proof that sport and solidarity belong together.

Our charitable activities also take on an international dimension on Sunday. The Zlaté Jablko shopping and entertainment centre will once again host the event Zlinfest for UNICEF. Through this initiative, visitors can support programs helping children in crisis areas around the world. Our partnership with UNICEF dates back to 2001, and we are pleased to continue contributing together this year, as the organisation celebrates its 80th anniversary, to improving children’s living conditions on a global scale.

We would like to thank all our charitable partners for their long-standing cooperation and invaluable work. Our thanks also go to you, our visitors, for helping alongside us and giving the Zlín Film Festival an even deeper meaning.

Who Are Our Charitable Partners?

The Kapka Naděje Foundation Fund has been increasing the chances of recovery for seriously ill children for 25 years, particularly in the fields of haematology, oncology, and child psychiatry. During its existence, it has distributed more than CZK 250 million for the purchase of medical equipment, hospital ward renovations, and psychosocial care in more than 50 hospitals across the Czech Republic.

The KORUNKA POMÁHÁ charitable project connects the activities of two organisations that have long supported children with disabilities, seniors, and people affected by natural disasters in the Zlín and Olomouc regions. Over more than twenty years, these organisations have distributed tens of millions of crowns raised through charity events and transparent fundraising accounts to provide direct assistance to specific families and organisations.

UNICEF operates in more than 190 countries around the world, focusing on saving children’s lives, protecting their rights, and helping them reach their full potential from early childhood through adolescence. The organisation never gives up on supporting the world’s most vulnerable children, even in the most challenging conditions.
