The Golden Slipper statue has taken its traditional place, the festival is counting down the last hours until the start!

The five-metre statue of the Golden Slipper, the symbol of the Zlín Film Festival, is already standing in front of the Congress Centre and we are looking forward to the opening ceremony.
The first guests, journalists, visitors and film delegations are already arriving in Zlín. This year we will welcome 71 of them from different parts of the world including Japan, USA, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Kenya and other countries. At the moment we are expecting more than a hundred film personalities to visit, we will show 19 films in world premiere, 13 in international premiere and a total of 121 in Czech premiere.
In six competition and other out-of-competition sections we will screen 297 films from 50 countries, including exotic countries such as the Dominican Republic, Chile, South Africa, Cape Verde, Qatar and Uruguay.
We will officially open the festival today, Thursday 29 May, at 10:00 a.m. at the Zlín Congress Centre with the distribution preview of the Czech-Slovak-French-Slovenian animated film The Tales from the Magic Garden, based on the book by actor and writer Arnošt Goldflam. It will be presented in person by an international creative team and will offer the audience a magical story about the power of storytelling and family ties. The public can see the film at the next screening on Saturday 31 May at 3pm.
As in previous years, the festival will also include another programme and activities at a number of venues in Zlín that will provide entertainment, education and opportunities for meaningful leisure time for the whole family.
