The first film winners: The children's jury was enchanted by The Secret Floor, the youngsters were intrigued by Nawi
03. June 2025
The first two festival awards have already been announced. At this morning's screening, two juries announced their verdicts. The children's jury was most impressed by Norbert Lechner's The Secret Floor.
And how did he win the hearts of children?
The Secret Floor was really cool! We really liked how the story was set half in the present and half in the past - it was interesting to see how it all gradually connected. The actors acted so well that we totally believed them - as if it was real. And the hotel? It was beautiful and a bit mysterious at the same time, it had such a special atmosphere that we immediately wanted to know more. The music was absolutely great - it added tension and emotion and kept us on our toes, wondering what was going to happen next. We enjoyed the whole film from beginning to end and would definitely recommend it to other children,
the children's jury for the children's feature film justified their choice.
The Youth Jury Award for the best feature film for teenagers and young people goes to Nawi from Zlín. This Kenyan-German film, produced in cooperation with UNICEF, brings the heartbreaking story of African child brides to life. And the young jurors also speak of the powerful story in their evaluation:
In our opinion, the most inspiring film was Nawi. A powerful story that managed to talk about serious things sensitively, truthfully and without unnecessary pretence. The film grabbed us right from the start - with its authenticity, the naturalness of the characters and the exceptional atmosphere. I have to give a lot of credit not only to the actors, who seemed very natural and believable, but also to the entire creative team. It was obvious that they took great care to treat this challenging subject with respect and responsibility. Every shot felt thoughtful, yet human at the same time. We're so glad someone decided to process this story - it raises important questions and provokes thought, and that's what we think makes a good film. For us, it was one of the most powerful film experiences at the festival,
