The auction of the 28th Salon of Film Flaps at the Zlín Film Festival brought in a record CZK 4,430,000

On Sunday, 1 June, the 28th annual Salon of Film Flaps culminated at the Zlín Congress Centre. The traditional charity auction of original film flaps, which is an integral part of the accompanying programme of the Zlín Film Festival, raised CZK 4,430,000 this year. Last year's record was thus surpassed by CZK 658,000. The auctioneers present were most interested in the flap "The Great Ride" with the motif of the Four Leaf Clover by Jaroslav Němeček, which was auctioned for CZK 161,000. From the proceeds of the auction, the FILMTALENT ZLÍN Foundation will support audiovisual projects of young filmmakers.
This year's Film Flap Salon involved 124 artists - both renowned authors and young talents. Among them were Jaroslav Němeček, Iva Hüttnerová, Boris Jirků, Kristian Kodet, Jiří Slíva, Petr Urban, and now also Ivan Mládek. Each of them created an author's version of a wooden film flap using any technique and on any theme, without any fee.
The flap "The Great Ride" by Jaroslav Němeček attracted the most interest during the auction at the Congress Centre, with a price of CZK 161,000, followed by "The Muses" by Igor Kitzberger (CZK 101,000) and "Virgin Apple at Dawn" by Josef Velčovský (CZK 100,000). In total, the auction of all 124 flaps brought CZK 4,430,000, which is the highest amount ever achieved in the history of the Salon.

From the proceeds of the auction, the FILMTALENT ZLÍN Foundation supports the projects of emerging filmmakers. This year 115 projects applied for a financial contribution. The expert jury selected a total of 32 to support. The authors of 12 of them presented their projects to the expert jury on Friday 30th May during the pitching session at the Zlín Film Festival and received feedback on the spot in the form of the allocated amount of money. The jury will decide on the amount of support for the other 20 selected projects on Monday 2 June.
Throughout the history of the Film Flap Salon, 3,247 artistically rendered flaps have been auctioned and have raised a total of CZK 56,534,000. Still unsurpassed is the success of Libor Vojkůvka's flap "Full of Desire, Flap Opened" from 2008, which was purchased for CZK 199,000.
