Masterclass with Dominic James: How to Tell a Story That Speaks to the Heart

Join us for an inspiring MASTERCLASS with acclaimed Canadian producer and screenwriter Dominic James, as he explores the power of storytelling that touches audiences of all ages. As President of the production company Les Productions La Fête, known for its family films with universal themes, James will show how careful character work can lead to international success.

Dominic James is no newcomer to the world of film. An award-winning writer and producer, he’s best known for Coco Farm (Coco Ferme), which won the Golden Slipper for Best Children’s Film here in Zlín last year. This year, he returns with another potential festival favorite: Miss Boots (Mlle Bottine), a title poised to capture hearts and headlines alike.
During the festival, Dominic James will also serve on the International Expert Jury for Feature Films for Children, helping evaluate this year’s competition. You can find a full list of jury members [here].
For the past decade, Dominic James has led the legendary Canadian production house La Fête, founded by the iconic Rock Demers. He is also a recipient of the Rock Demers Award from the FIFEM Children’s Film Festival in Montreal. Currently, he is developing a wide range of new projects, including an adaptation of the graphic novel Le petit astronaute. In short: this is someone worth seeing and hearing live!
