A tragicomic tale of boys who played at being soldiers even as World War II raged around them; they dreamed of heroic acts, spied on girls, boasted to their friends, and exaggerated their experiences. The boys view both the war and the common problems of village life with the same childish naivety.

Biography
A Slovak director and screenwriter. He graduated from FAMU. In his live-acted films he was inclined toward the poetization of reality and lyric motifs. He debuted with We from Study Group 9-A (1961). He also gave us The Sun in a Net (1962), Three Daughters (1967) and The Curator of the OpenairMuseum (1988).
