Story Nr. 39: 70 mm FILM

At the 1966 Czechoslovak Film Festival for Children and Youth, the Grand Cinema was rebuilt for screenings of 70-mm film, among other things. The special equipment in the cinema lasted until the early 1990s. To mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Zlín Film Festival in 2010, the organizers gave audiences an exceptional presentation of films shot in this special format. Great films like Lawrence of Arabia, Burton's adaptation of the comic book Batman, the classic of the gangster genre The Untouchables, and the legendary film version of the Broadway musical West Side Story were screened in the Grand Cinema in unprecedented technical quality.
