OPENING CEREMONY FILM NAMES

There are not many film festivals in the world that have two fully-fledged opening ceremonies but ZFF is one of them.

There are not many film festivals in the world that have two fully-fledged opening ceremonies but ZFF is one of them. As it is an event of broad-spectrum it is necessary to open ZFF firstly with children and then adults. The children's opening traditionally and almost from the beginning of the festival takes place on Monday at 10 am in Velke Kino. Ten hours later at 8pm the adults can enjoy the grand opening at the same location. The opening ceremony includes the introduction of the current year's festival, greetings from ministers, the regional county president, the mayor and other official events. It is only after this that the opening feature film is shown. And what are the films for this year's opening ceremonies?

The children will watch Pee-Wee: The Winter That Changed My Life, Canada 2012, 122 min., director: Éric Tessier. You may remember that we have introduced this film to you in one of our previous Flash Info updates as one of the candidates for the Golden Slipper Award. Not to repeat ourselves we will just say that it is an ice hockey story.

In the evening from 8pm in Velke Kino, the adults will be introduced to Nono, The Zigzag Kid, Netherlands, 2012, 95 min, director: Vincent Bal. This film figures in the film programme in the uncompetitive section Panorama.

Both of the opening ceremonies will be in the light of Czech-Danish collaboration. The age when an internationally acclaimed Dane was present in Prague on the King's and Emperor's court will be remembered. Can you guess the Dane's name as well as the name of the sovereign?  You may send your correct answers to katerina.fojtova@zlinfest.cz.
