Happy to Create 2015

The International Competition for creations by visually impaired children and youth has become a traditional part of the supporting program at the International Zlín Film Festival.

This year will commemorate the 18th anniversary and is called, A Fairytale World.

The competition showcases the skills of visually impaired children and acquaints the public with the visual manifestations of these very talented children. Although they are faced with this handicap, their rich imagination allows them to use their alternative senses to create works of art which leave a lasting impression.

The expert jury will choose the 10 best individual works of art as well as two teams and there will also be four main awards in each age category. The awards will be presented by affluent political and cultural representatives.

This year, the judges will include painter Šárka Šiškova and artist and painter Josef Ruszelák. We are also pleased to welcome to the jury Jarmila Sitníková and gallery owner Otto Kamenský from The Gallery below the Town Square.

The exhibition will take place during the 55th Zlín Film Festival and the awards will be presented on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 1pm in the Congress Centre in Zlín. Later, the University Centre in Zlín will host a viewing of these works.

Many distinguished guests of the festival have attended this event, including Annie Girardot, Jiřina Bohdalová, Helena Růžičková, Petr Nárožný, and Michael York with his wife Pat.

The project is supported by FILMFEST Ltd. and the Orphanage Home, Kindergarten, Elementary School and Practical School Zlín and Special Educational Centre for the Visually Impaired in Zlín.
