The Clapperboard Salon is a traditional exhibition of film clapperboards that has been a mainstay of the Zlín Film Festival's supporting program for years. The idea of inviting artists to render wooden film clapperboards into works of art was born in 1998 and now more than 120 artists contribute each year.

Over the 21 years of its existence, the Clapperboard Salon has produced exactly 2369 clapperboards, which have been auctioned off for a total of CZK 32,934,600 (€1,288,006). The history of this exceptional exhibition has also been documented by a unique publication called "Film Clapperboard Salons 1998 – 2017 Zlín", which came out in 2017 and presents the individual years of this project in detail. It includes a complete overview of every clapperboard created, provides comments by both artists and successful bidders for the clapperboards, and also presents over 350 projects that have been supported by the more than 30 million Czech crowns obtained from the auctions of these works of art.

The 22nd year of the Clapperboard Salon will start on March 12, 2019 in Prague at Hybernia Theater. CLAPPERBOARD TOUR 2019 will have six stops and will complete its tour with its traditional auction during the 59th Zlín Film Festival - International Film Festival for Children and Youth. The auction will take place on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at the Congress Center in Zlín.

As they have been in previous years, the proceeds from the auction will be donated to support the film works of film school students and other fledgling filmmakers. On Monday morning of May 27, the FILMTALENT ZLÍN Endowment Fund will choose from among projects seeking support (exhibitions, documentary films, live-acted films and animated works); this selection will be based on a competition.
