  • The Imp’s Reading Room

    starting at 09:00 | František Bartoš Regional Library, Zlín

    The project was initiated in 2003 with the aim to support child reading. The Imp’s Reading Room organizes educational programmes for children featuring books in the main role.

    Part of this year’s programme is an exhibition of children’s works of art with the theme „Reality of Fantasy? – Karel Zeman’s 100th Anniversary – Czechoslovak Cinema“. The organizer of the competition is the Astra Children’s and Youth Centre in Zlín. The competition has for age categories and the works were made by children from elementary schools from Zlín. The best and awarded works will be put on display at the František Bartoš Regional Library in Zlín from May 31, 2010.

  • Child in Crisis - workshops

    It has long ago become an integral part of the supporting programme of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Zlín and 2010 will see the 12th run of the seminar.

     

    The aim of the project is to support multidisciplinary cooperation in the field of child protection not only on local, but also on national and international context.

    The project is supported by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

  • The fairy tale from paper

    starting at 09:00 | Peace Square

     

    A morning programme for children from kindergartens and elementary schools. The smallest children can participate in an entertaining programme full of activities, organized in cooperation with the Henkel company. In creative workshops, children will make paper masks, paper hats, and miniature puzzle, utilizing various techniques. Apart from that, children will actively participate in fairy-tales acted by life-size puppets, a workshop with a herbalist, or in the Jiří Hadaš school of magic. The girl band 5angels will dance to children, who can also look forward to a remarkable new event called Big Actors for Small Children. The host of the programme is Martin Hrdinka.

    Part of the supporting programme is also a project co-organized with LEGO: Building Blocks – Architects Have Gone Mad. Five competing teams will try to build the best version of an assigned object and the winners can look forward to LEGO sets. Others can participate in smaller competitions and the smallest children can play at LEGO playing tables, trying to make their own construction dreams come true.

    At the end of the afternoon, all participants will be invited to participate in a mask parade, during the artists` jury will pick the best masks, judge the craftsmanship of their creators and award wonderful prizes. The jury will be represented by Roman Vojtek, Šárka Marková, and the delegation for the film Rain Fairy. The carnival will be followed by an autograph party.

    The competition views advertising from the point of view of a top creative while taking into account the long-term communication level and impact of advertising. Winners of the 8th rainbow Marble in individual categories will be decided upon by an international jury.

    The jurors of the competitive part will feature prominent representatives of both Czech and international advertising, including Mike Longhurst (McCann Erickson), David Jones (Euro RSCG), or Jiří Mikeš, the honorary president of the Rainbow Marble and doyen of Czech advertising.

  • Afternoon at the Sunflower

    starting at 14:00 | Netradiční centrum Slunečnice, II. Morýsův dům

     

    The centre offers to not only handicapped inhabitants of Zlín a wide range of services representing a work training programme for socially handicapped people and people with mental disabilities. The programme aims at helping them to participate in everyday life and make it easier for them to find a position on the common job market.

    Every year, the International Film Festival for Children and Youth supports the association by co-organizing an afternoon of fun featuring creative workshops.

    You will get a chance to spend a pleasant morning together with the employees of the centre on the ground floor of the Morýs House. The host of the supporting programme, which will include the presentation of awards to the best child graphic artists, will be Jiří Hadaš with his magic balloons. Zora Jandová will sing, Max and Sally will prepare a competition, and children will sing along and dance at a disco. In the protected workshop, visitors will get a chance to try to work with ceramic clay, make accessories from beads and other small objects. The event will be attended by numerous representatives of social and cultural life.

  • After ringtones - afternoon with the Foundation of Children, Culture and Sport

    The project „Youth Stage“ will be organized for the second time this year. The project enables children, amateur young artists and dance groups to show their craftsmanship and present themselves within the framework of the festival to the general public as well as to festival guests. Participants include bands and groups from the town of Zlín as well as from the whole Zlín region.

    There are two ways to honour a painter – either buy all his paintings or organize an exhibition at which his paintings are bought by the art-loving public.

    Film Festival Zlín would therefore like to invite you to the Galerie pod Radnicí gallery in Zlín, where you will be able to admire 15 oil paintings and approximately 25 graphics between May 30 and the middle of June – all works by Kristian Kodet made in the past year.

    Kristian Kodet is a brother of the Czech Actor Jiří Kodet. He studied in Belgium and lived in Switzerland and in the USA. He ranks as one of the leading Czech graphic artists.
