The Imp’s Reading Room

The project was initiated in 2003 with the aim to support child reading. The Imp’s Reading Room organizes educational programmes for children featuring books in the main role.
Part of this year’s programme is an exhibition of children’s works of art with the theme „Reality of Fantasy? – Karel Zeman’s 100th Anniversary – Czechoslovak Cinema“. The organizer of the competition is the Astra Children’s and Youth Centre in Zlín. The competition has for age categories and the works were made by children from elementary schools from Zlín. The best and awarded works will be put on display at the František Bartoš Regional Library in Zlín from May 31, 2010.

Festival celebrity tree

This year’s tree to be planted is Fagus sylvatica Pendula (Weeping Beech). The tree will be co-planted by Dana Morávková and Jiří Hadaš with the assistance of Mrs Irena Ondrová, Mayor of Zlín, Mr Petr Koliha, Artistic director of the festival, and the actress and singer Zora Jandová; the event will be attended by other festival guests, representatives of public life and artists.
The partner of the event, the Lesy ČR company, will prepare entertaining competitions for children.
Weeping Beech:
As the name suggests, this cultivar has a peculiar way of growing. Its shoots point upward, but in time become too heavy and start pointing downwards. New branches soon start to appear on them, pushing the treetop a little bit higher again

Calling the Woods

On Wednesday morning, everyone interested will get a chance to test their knowledge in forestry and environmental protection, prove their proficiency and skills at various checkpoints and take a test ride at the bike school of Čemba, the Czech Mountain Bike Association.
Perfect fun will be guaranteed by the magician and presenter Jiří Hadaš, Vanda and Standa with their show „For a Nicer World“, the singer Zora Jandová and the Funky Foot dance company.

Child in Crisis

It has long ago become an integral part of the supporting programme of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Zlín and 2010 will see the 12th run of the seminar.
The aim of the project is to support multidisciplinary cooperation in the field of child protection not only on local, but also on national and international context.

Rainbow Marble

„Ethics is what distinguishes good advertising from bad, and creativity is what distinguishes excellent advertising from good.“
The competition views advertising from the point of view of a top creative while taking into account the long-term communication level and impact of advertising. Winners of the 8th rainbow Marble in individual categories will be decided upon by an international jury.
The jurors of the competitive part will feature prominent representatives of both Czech and international advertising, including Mike Longhurst (McCann Erickson), David Jones (Euro RSCG), or Jiří Mikeš, the honorary president of the Rainbow Marble and doyen of Czech advertising.

The festival will reach its climax on June 3, 2010 at 7.00 pm. Awards to winners of the competition will be presented during the Rainbow Marble Gala Evening in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Management and Economics, Mostní ulice 5139.
Painting on the sidewalk with Allianz

During this event, children get a unique chance to draw all over the whole car park in front of the Velké kino cinema and even be rewarded for it.
This year`s topic is „Eating in Fairy-Tales“. Children will get a chance to meet fairy-tale characters and their works will be judged by a jury consisting of well-known artists. The hosts of the programme will be the fairy-tale prince Honza Čenský and his charming colleague Dana Morávková.
And as a special treat, the girl band 5angels will sing and dance for the children!
All participating children will receive a sweet reward for their work and the winners of this year`s pavement drawing will receive special awards!

Sidewalk of fame
After ringtones - afternoon with the Foundation of Children, Culture and Sport

The project „Youth Stage“ will be organized for the second time this year. The project enables children, amateur young artists and dance groups to show their craftsmanship and present themselves within the framework of the festival to the general public as well as to festival guests. Participants include bands and groups from the town of Zlín as well as from the whole Zlín region.

Concert of Hope (Lucy Vondráčková and ABBA Revival)

Since 2002, the funds has been supporting children’s wards in hospitals all over the Czech Republic. This year, the fund is celebrating its tenth anniversary. We have done a lot of work – a total of CZK 104m have been donated to hospitals all over the country. The Tomas Bata Hospital in Zlín, the Uherské Hradiště Hospital, and the Vsetín Hospital, all located in the Zlín Region, have received medical equipment worth more than five million Czech crowns.
Just like every year, Vendula Svobodová, President of the Drop of Hope foundation fund, will visit the Tomas Bata Hospital in Zlín, presenting it with new equipment – pulse oxymeters, heated mats and a saturating sensor with accessories. During her visit to the Vsetín hospital, she will present its management with 17 beds newborns.
For this year, the Drop of Hope foundation fund has prepared a big open-air concert in the Náměstí Míru square – the list of performing artists is a secret and a big surprise for you!
During the concert, you will have a chance to support the Drop of Hope either right on the spot of by means of a donor SMS.
Pavement of Fame
For the fifth year in a row, the programme of the Drop of Hope will feature the ceremonial unveiling of child actors` stars on the Pavement of Fame. This year’s stars will be Michaela Kuklová and Filip Renč. The event will end with an autograph party of the newly introduced stars
