  • All Czechs Read to Their Children

    starting at 09:00 | District Library, Jižní Svahy, Okružní 4699, Zlín

     

    The nationwide project All Czechs Read to Their Children® organizes regular readings all over the Czech Republic and the festival town of Zlín is no exception. Prominent representatives of Czech and Slovak cultural life will read to children.

  • The Imp’s Reading Room

    starting at 09:00 | František Bartoš Regional Library, Zlín

    The project was initiated in 2003 with the aim to support child reading. The Imp’s Reading Room organizes educational programmes for children featuring books in the main role.

    Part of this year’s programme is an exhibition of children’s works of art with the theme „Reality of Fantasy? – Karel Zeman’s 100th Anniversary – Czechoslovak Cinema“. The organizer of the competition is the Astra Children’s and Youth Centre in Zlín. The competition has for age categories and the works were made by children from elementary schools from Zlín. The best and awarded works will be put on display at the František Bartoš Regional Library in Zlín from May 31, 2010.

  • Fairytale day of Czech Television

    starting at 09:00 | Peace square, Zlín

     

    Competitions, songs and gags will be brought to the smallest children by Jan Adámek, host of the popular Czech TV show the Mysteries of Tom Wizard.

    During the whole day (9.00 am to 5 pm), there will be entertainment for everyone – from the smallest children and their older brothers and sisters to their parents. A number of attractions will include a jumping gingerbread hut, Flying Čestmír`s giant trampoline, bungee running or the castle maze, where the children will look for Cinderella’s lost shoe. Apart from these attractions, everyone will get a chance to enjoy the fairy-tale objects they will make themselves. They will get a chance to take home with them a painted mug painted by themselves with the help of Jack and Jill, or their own flowerpot.

    Meeting the magician Čáryfuk, they will get a chance to learn some magic tricks or have an original mask created on their face. Older children can visit a yo-yo school and see what real masters can do with this magical toy. Small and big, young and old, everyone will get a chance to compete in both fairy-tale and non-fairy-tale disciplines.

    The Czech Television Fairy-Tale Day will reach its climax at 7.30 pm in the Náměstí Míru square with a live performance of the popular band NiGHTWORK!

  • A train full of smiles - Cinematrain

    starting at 10:10 | Train Station Zlin-center

     

    For the eighth time in a row, they will be welcomed to the festival town and enjoy the rich programme. They will be able to choose from the festival screenings in cinemas or on the CinemaTrain. The Náměstí Míru square will offer the programme of the Czech Television Day and the unique atmosphere of the biggest and oldest children’s film festival will be felt throughout the day.

     

    Children riding the special train unit will be able to enjoy a lot of unforgettable meetings with celebrities from the world of film and entertainment.

    CinemaTrain

    This year’s train, seventh in a row, started its journey on May 19 in the historical town of Znojmo, stopping at stations in twelve Czech and Moravian towns. The unique screening venue, located in a specially adapted train, will end its journey in Horní Lideč on June 4.

     

    The CinemaTrain will offer a number of short fairy-tales, sets of popular Bedtime Stories as well as films for children. It also features an exhibition of best children’s drawings and painting focusing on the theme „What Is Eaten in Fairy-Tales“. A special exhibition car houses an exhibition about railway history. A special playing car invites children to play and draw.

     

    The CinemaTrain project is a joint project of Czech Railways, the International Film Festival for Children and Youth, and the Czech Television.

  • After ringtones - afternoon with the Foundation of Children, Culture and Sport

    The project enables children, amateur young artists and dance groups to show their craftsmanship and present themselves within the framework of the festival to the general public as well as to festival guests. Participants include bands and groups from the town of Zlín as well as from the whole Zlín region.

    The weather conditions are vital, so the event is taking place either at the "náměstí Míru" square or at the Golden Apple shopping centre.
