Mini Salon Film Clapperboards – About the project

Minisalon – Film Clapperboards is the prestigious climax of the accompanying cultural programme of Zlín’s festival and an integral part of it is a travelling retrospective exhibition.

The first annual Minisalon took place within the 38th International Film Festival for Children and Youth. Organizers came up with the idea to make film clapperboards – a symbol of the film world – into works of art. 26 prominent Czech artists, actors and personalities of the art world took part in the pilot project.

With each passing year the number of clapperboards has risen, along with the interest of the media, guests, viewers and art collectors. Over the years, the prestige and interest to take part in this event has even crossed the boarders of the Czech Republic. Today clapperboards are regularly created by artists from Slovakia, France, Italy, Austria and the United States. The festival halls of Tomas Bata University were decorated with a record number of 137 clapperboards last year. Among the artists were Iva Hüttnerová, Boris Jirků, Kristian Kodet, Miloš Nesvadba, Jan Saudek, Josef Velčovský, Igor Kitzberger and Libor Vojkůvka.
